The Dwarves were the first
race to unlock the secrets of the earth, and they delved long and deep to bring
them to the surface: gold and silver were their toys, and mithril was their wealth,
but iron was their foundation. Using skills learned from their creator, Aulë
the Vala, they fashioned some of the most wondrous weaponry ever to be seen in
Middle-earth, including Elendil's sword, Narsil. Yet it is believed that Men learned
the secret of mining not from them, for they were ever secretive, but from the
Númenóreans who voyaged to Middle-earth during the Second Age, teaching
the primitive Mannish cultures much that they themselves had learned from the
Elves. ~ except

Shards of Narsil The Shards
of Narsil Narsil is perhaps the most famous sword in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
At the end of the second age of Middle-Earth, Narsil's blade was shattered, as
Elendil fell during the Last Alliance of Elves and Men in the great battle against
Sauron, creating the Shards of Narsil. The Shards were kept in Rivendell, the
house of Elrond, for safe keeping. Legend tells that the sword would one day be
re-forged and the king would return. | |

Lord of the Rings High Elven War Helm
Lord of the Rings High Elven War Helm the helmet prominently featured in The
Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring. leather-lined interior and
an Elven vine design. Designer John Howe. Mr. Howe designed the High Elven War
Helm and many of the other props featured in The Lord of the Rings trilogy
of feature films. An ancient human-like race of Middle-earth, Elves are noble,
elegant and magical beings in harmony with the natural world and its forces. Elves
have clearer perception and more heightened awareness than humans, which was a
valuable aid when Gil-galad, the last High King of the Noldor, joined Elendil,
King of Gondor, to create The Last Alliance of Elves and Men in order to defeat
the evil Sauron and his legion of orcs. The army of the Last Alliance won the
Battle of Dagorlad. Then, on the slopes of Mount Orodruin, despite heavy losses,
the Alliance managed to drive Sauron's forces back. Cornered there, Sauron himself
took to the battlefield. After heavy battle, Gil-galad and Elendil were slain,
but Isildur, son of Elendil, cut The One Ring from Sauron's finger, thus ending
his reign of power. The high sophistication of the Elven race carries over into
the design of the High Elven War Helm, which has the appearance of being beaten
out of a single sheet of steel. Embossed into the nose guard is the Elvish rune,
GG, which represents the commander of the Elvish army, Gil-galad. |

| | Lord of the Rings Narsil
Sword | | Lord
of the Rings Narsil Sword the mighty sword of King Elendil. Narsil is perhaps
the most famous sword in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. At the end of the second
age of "Middle Earth," Narsil's blade was shattered as Elendil fell during the
Last Alliance of Elves and Men in the great battle of Sauron. Isuldur, Elendil's
son, then used the broken hilt of Narsil to cut the One Ring from Sauron's finger,
breaking the bonds of his power, banishing his evil shadow into the darkness.
Engraved on the pommel are runes in the Elven Language of Sindarin that say, "Narsil
is my name, a mighty sword; Telchar made me in Nogrod." |

| | Lord
of the Rings Glamdring Sword The Lord of the
Rings Glamdring Sword used by Gandalf the Wizard is featured in all three Lord
of the Rings films. An ancient sword carried by Gandalf the Grey, who is an old,
but powerful wizard and friend to Frodo Baggins. He joins Frodo and the other
selected members of the "Fellowship" as they cross Middle-earth in an effort to
reach Mount Doom and destroy the Ring. Glamdring, a magical sword, glows in the
presence of an enemy and it serves Gandalf in his mission to aid the Fellowship
of the Ring. It was made by ancient Elves, and is inscribed with runes in the
Elven language that say the sword was forged for Turgon, the King of Gondolin.

| Hadhafang
- Sword of Arwen Hadhafang - Sword of Arwen Arwen's
sword is called Hadhafang which means Throng-cleaver. It once belonged to the
Elven princess Idril, who wed a mortal man and bore Earendil, the father of Elrond
who in turn was father to Arwen. Before Arwen's birth Elrond wielded Hadhafang
at the end of the second age of Middle-Earth, during the Last Alliance of Elves
and Men in the great battle against Sauron. Later his daughter Arwen used Hadhafang
when she aided Frodo in his escape from the Ringwraiths. Inscribed on the blade
are runes in the Elven language of Sindarin that say "aen estar Hadhafang i chathol
hen, thand arod dan i thang an i arwen" which translates to "this blade is called
Hadhafang, a noble defense against the enemy throng for a noble lady." The original
inscription included the last line "Idril i hel en aran Gond dolen," which translates
to "Idril, daughter of the king of the Hidden Rock (Gondolin)."
There is an intentional pun in the inscription - the Sindarin translation of "noble
lady" is "arwen", so in effect, the blade claims to be for Arwen, even though
it was made for her grandmother. |

and helmet of a Citadel Guard, Pippin was able to save the Lord Faramir from a

more clearly when he puts it on. The Ringwraith’s sword was built by armourers
of the dark land of Mordor, under the command of their evil master Sauron.

| Lord
of the Rings Sting Sword The sword used by Bilbo
and Frodo Baggins is featured in all three Lord of the Rings films. A magical
sword given to Frodo Baggins by his cousin Bilbo, the original Ringbearer. It
is up to Frodo and the chosen "Fellowship" to cast the Ring back into the fires
of Mount Doom, where it was originally forged, and destroy it once and for all.
Bilbo gives Sting, a sword made by Elves in the ancient days, to Frodo to serve
him on his harrowing journey. Bilbo carried Sting with him when he originally
acquired the Ring from Gollum. Sting's blade glows when Orcs, the violent footsoldiers
of Sauron, are present. Engraved on the blade and cross guard are runes in the
Elven language of Sindarin that say "Maegnas is my name, I am the spider's bane." |

Frodo Orc Helm Hope
seemed small and far away to Sam, as he watched his friend and master's seeming
lifeless body taken away by orcs, until he learned that Frodo was merely paralyzed
by Shelob's foul sting. After a daring rescue, Frodo and Sam found orc armor small
enough to fit their diminutive & undernourished hobbit frames, each wearing a
helmet to disguise their dirty but otherwise un-orc-like faces. This simple but
clever disguise allowed the pair to move through Mordor largely unnoticed, ever
closer to Mount Doom.
